Many beer and cider festivals are held each year around the UK. Literately, each month, you can find a place where you can try real Ale. Middle of November this place is Barnsley. Each year in November Barnsley CAMRA branch organise Winter Ales Festival.

General sponsor of this festival is Acorn Brewery of Barnsley, therefore all beers were supplied by Acorn Brewery via beer swap scheme. This festival is really dedicated to the winter beers. Almost all list was filled with Dark Ales, Porters and Stouts. Very unusual choice, but this will attract real dark beer lowers.

We decide to visit this Real Ale drinking event on Thursday 12th November, just at the opening, that is why this festival looks not very busy, but this will guaranty that there are all beers will be present.

Our conclusion - if you like to try Dark ales in quite environment with very friendly staff, Barnsley Winter Ales Festival is the right place to visit. Definitely, next year, in the middle of November we will go to this place and celebrate end of autumn with real dark ales, crafted in small breweries across the UK.
